SUSAN TEDESCHI
ACCLAIMED SINGER, SONGWRITER, AND GUITARIST

Susan Tedeschi hit the radar in 1998 when her acclaimed album Just Won’t Burn started making waves in the music world. The album helped to establish Tedeschi as a heart-in-the-throat singer, a sneaky-sharp guitarist, and a sweetly evocative songstress. Just Won’t Burn became Gold-certified and led to Tedeschi’s nomination for Best New Artist at the 2000 Grammy Awards. 2002’s Wait For Me cracked the Billboard Top 200, launched the hit single “Alone”, and scored two more Grammy nominations, this time for “Best Female Rock Vocal Performance” and “Best Contemporary Blues Album.”

Susan’s voice has drawn comparisons to Bonnie Raitt and Janis Joplin and her musical approach puts her in the company of Lenny Kravitz, Sheryl Crow, and Willie Nelson (with whom she’s toured). Tedeschi has toured and performed with artists like the Rolling Stones, Sheryl Crow, Dixie Chicks, The Allman Brothers, John Mellencamp, B.B. King, and Bonnie Raitt, all giving Susan a chance to bring her passionate unpretentious music to a broader audience.

Susan has just signed a new recording contract with Verve Forecast and is writing new music and preparing to head into the studio to record her next album, tentatively scheduled for a late summer release.

Susan Tedeschi and her band will perform a 75-90 minute set following the Blind Boys of Alabama. All times are subject to change.

BLIND BOYS OF ALABAMA
FOUR-TIME GRAMMY WINNERS CONTINUE TO INSPIRE

The Blind Boys of Alabama have been performing together for over six decades, since they originally formed at the Alabama Institute for the Negro Blind in 1939. For years they mainly performed within the gospel circuit, but began to reach a broader audience during the 1980s when they were featured in the Broadway smash The Gospel At Colonus.

In 2001 the Blind Boys of Alabama signed with Peter Gabriel's Real World Records label and their last four albums have earned these hipster septuagenarians the best reviews and record sales of their career. Over the last four years they have won consecutive Grammy awards for Best Traditional Soul Gospel Album, and have been introduced to a completely new, contemporary audience through their collaborations with such artists as Ben Harper, Gift of Gab (Blackalicious), Billy Preston, David Hidalgo (Los Lobos), and Charlie Musselwhite.

Founding members Clarence Fountain and Jimmy Carter are joined by more recent arrivals Joey Williams, Ricky McKinnie, Bobby Butler, Billie Bowers, and Tracy Pierce. Together they are on a musical mission to continue to broaden their fan base by incorporating contemporary songs and innovative arrangements into a legendary and beloved traditional gospel style.

The Blind Boys of Alabama will perform an approximately 60 minute set, followed by Susan Tedeschi. All times are subject to change.
